So, you made the decision that you want to quit wrenching and become an automotive instructor? Then right after the classroom keys are handed over to you (and not much else is provided!), you realize this is more than a job change; it's a career change.
The vocabulary of teacher terms is overwhelming, and your only frame of classroom reference is how you remember school was for you. But today’s classroom is a different arena! What used to work (and I argue that it ever really worked) does not get student buy-in and engagement today!
What to do?
In this presentation we will build a short lesson plan for an engine performance class as an example. We will actually put together a presentation that you can take back to class and use, at the same time learning how to prepare for all classes in creative and engaging ways.
Student buy-in is critical to student engagement. As a new instructor, you have the opportunity to change up how education is delivered and focus on real learning as a result. Let’s start off on the right foot!

These are wonderful trainers! With the ability to remote control them with a laptop, real life situations can be simulated (read: intermittent faults) and it also helps with so many different areas of expertise! San Jacinto College has these trainers and couldn't be more satisfied. Well done, ConsuLab!J.P. Goins, GM ASEP instructor, San Jacinto College
