 CL-F765MG Electric Motors & Generators
PDF

When teaching motors and generators at the elementary stage, as much attention as possible should be given to practical experiments. Most of the experiments in motors and generators for this stage can be carried out with the CL-F765MG demonstration set. This set contains a number of parts that can be combined in different ways to obtain various types of apparatus. Furthermore, by means of the “building up” method, which is used here, it is easy to explain the connection between different experiments and thus follow a coherent line of thought throughout the course.

All parts are kept in different sections in a specially fitted wooden case. A lay-out diagram in the lid of the case shows the position of each part. The names are given in the list of parts on last pages in this handbook. Most experiments are built up on a common base plate having 5 holes in which different parts can be screwed with strong wing screws. The holes are marked with engraved letters, to which reference is made in the handbook.

Many of the mountings are illustrated by photographs showing the experimental set-up. Instructions are also given as to the most suitable length of wire and other specifications for use in different experiments. The experiments are thus very easy to carry out and do no not require lengthy preparation. We also included in this manual a collection of experiments which the author found applicable in teaching an introductory course on rotating equipment. The results were obtained using a power supply for the DC requirements and portable bench meters for all measurements, which are not included with the CL-F765MG set.
